First Date Guide: Los Angeles, CA

In The Wonderful World of Dating

So you’ve had a couple great conversations online and now it’s time to meet in person. These are our picks for great first date spots in LA.  For those of you who don’t live in LA, be sure to keep coming back for your city’s First Date Guide. Until then, use these tips for some first date planning inspiration.

DRINKS (and maybe a bite)

Norah, West Hollywood (

For those of you looking to grab some drinks (and dinner if things go well) in a cool atmosphere check out West Hollywood’s Norah. The atmosphere is fun and trendy, but not so trendy that you have to give away your firstborn for a 6PM table. Talk about the best of both words. Start out at the bar and try one of their delicious cocktails. From there, if you guys are feeling a connection,  grab a bite. The full menu is available at the bar so there’s no need to relocate to a table (unless of course you want to).

Malibu Wines Malibu Tasting Room, Malibu  (

If you’re looking for an easy casual first date, check out Malibu Wines. They have a number of tasting rooms, but our favorite is their Malibu location. On Saturdays and Sundays you and your date can enjoy live music. Not to mention, they host some really cool events like movie night, trivia night and mimosas & yoga. Make sure to check out their website before heading over as reservations are required during some peak times.

Los Angeles Museum of Art, Wilshire Blvd (

Do you fear awkward lapses in conversation on first dates? If so, LACMA is the perfect first date spot for you. With the museum’s vast collection of art, you and your date will always have something to talk about. Then, if you want to keep things going without leaving the property, have a cocktail or snack (or both) at Ray’s & Stark Bar or a coffee from C+M.

Fryman Canyon, Studio City (

Hikes make for perfect first dates, especially for those of you fitness buffs.  LA offers so many different hiking trails, but Fryman Canyon is our favorite for a first date. The trails aren’t so difficult that you’ll leave sweaty and disheveled, but you’ll still get a solid workout in. Not to mention, the park is clean and generally less sceney than some of the areas other hiking trails.

Sky Slide at OUE Skyspace LA, Downtown  (

Shared adventures are a great way to get to know someone. For you adrenaline junkies (or anyone who likes a good view), OUE Skyspace LA’s Sky Slide is a perfect first date activity. You and your date can meet at the 2,800 square-foot observation deck at US Bank Tower. From there you can head over to the slide and take the 45-foot ride down. Tickets are required, so be sure to check out their website to plan ahead.
